Frequently Asked Questions
Practical answers for drivers finding service and shops using WrenchFinder marketplace, website, and booking tools.
Status: Public beta legal draft — publication metadata and counsel review are still pending where applicable.
For drivers
How do I find a shop?
Open Find a shop, enter a city or postal code, select a service, and optionally choose a vehicle and date. The marketplace uses the selected date when supported availability data is configured for a shop. Shops without supported availability remain visible as contact-required results. A saved Garage vehicle can be reused as vehicle context and may also be used by the marketplace when capability data is available.
Is an appointment confirmed immediately?
No. A displayed available time helps you choose a preferred time, but submitting it still creates a service request rather than a guaranteed reservation. The shop must confirm the appointment and may discuss another time if capacity changes.
Can I change or cancel a request?
Contact the shop as early as possible using its profile or confirmation details. There is no current customer self-service reschedule or cancellation control. A separate shop deposit or no-show policy may apply only if it was properly disclosed.
Who sets the repair price?
The independent shop. A displayed price may be a starting price and is not a final quote. Review the diagnosis, written estimate, taxes, fees, and authorization terms directly with the shop.
Does WrenchFinder charge drivers a commission?
No. WrenchFinder does not currently collect repair payments from drivers or charge a driver commission through the service-request flow.
What if the final cost changes?
Ask the shop why the scope changed and request an updated written estimate before authorizing added work. Alberta consumer rights may limit charges above an estimate in some circumstances. WrenchFinder cannot approve work or adjust a shop invoice.
Who provides the repair warranty?
The shop or applicable parts manufacturer, not WrenchFinder. Ask for the warranty scope, duration, exclusions, transferability, and claim process in writing.
Can I leave a review?
Not through the current WrenchFinder service. Shop profiles may display an aggregate rating field, but WrenchFinder does not currently accept or publish individual customer reviews.
How do I complain about a shop?
First contact the shop with the estimate, invoice, photos, and requested resolution. You may also report a listing or conduct issue to WrenchFinder. WrenchFinder can review platform access but cannot adjudicate every repair dispute or replace a regulator or court.
How do I delete my data or account?
Email the Privacy Officer or use account controls when available. We will verify identity and delete or anonymize eligible information, while retaining records required for legal, security, transaction, or dispute purposes.
For shops
How do I register my business?
There is no public shop self-registration flow. Contact WrenchFinder and complete the applicable onboarding and Order Form process. Shop and team access is provisioned for existing authenticated accounts; WrenchFinder does not claim that every listed field or licence has been independently verified.
How much does it cost?
Shop pricing and any invoiced setup or recurring service fee are set in a signed Order Form. The current application does not process subscriptions, commissions, or repair payments.
How do I receive and confirm requests?
Authorized shop users review the Shop OS inbox, contact the customer, and move a request through its available statuses. A request should be confirmed only after the shop verifies capacity, service scope, and timing.
How do I manage available dates?
Availability configuration is currently an onboarding/support-managed setup rather than a self-service Shop OS control. WrenchFinder can configure supported shop hours, capacity, closures, blocks, and calendar mode so the marketplace can calculate candidate windows. Shops without that setup are shown as “Contact shop for availability.” External calendar provider live-sync is not yet generally available, and every submitted request still requires shop confirmation.
Can WrenchFinder connect my existing website?
Depending on the plan, WrenchFinder can link an existing website, add booking entry points, connect a hosted page, or build a WrenchFinder-powered site. Scope and dependencies belong in the Order Form.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes, when included in the Order Form. A Shop-owned domain remains Shop property. DNS access and transition responsibilities are documented before launch.
Who owns the site and content?
The Shop keeps its pre-existing logo, photos, trade name, and supplied content. WrenchFinder keeps its software, templates, components, and tools. Hosted source code is not transferred unless an Order Form expressly says so.
How do I change a plan or end a subscription?
Follow the notice period in the signed Order Form and Shop Services Agreement. Plan changes should be documented in a replacement Order Form or written amendment.
Does WrenchFinder guarantee leads?
No. Unless a signed Order Form expressly creates a different commitment, WrenchFinder does not guarantee lead volume, quality, conversion, revenue, ranking, or exclusivity.
How may I use customer data?
Use request data to respond to and deliver the requested automotive service, keep legally required records, and resolve related issues. Protect it, limit staff access, report incidents, and do not add customers to marketing without the consent required by privacy law and CASL.
