The update
MotorTrend reported on October 8 that the 2027 Honda Civic gains a Sport-L trim in both sedan and hatchback form. It sits above the other gasoline versions, adding equipment including leather upholstery, heated power front seats and dual-zone climate control.
The Sport Touring Hybrid also receives S+ Shift, a system introduced with the Prelude. It uses simulated gear changes and paddle controls to create a more conventional shifting sensation; this is not an announcement of a new eight-speed mechanical gearbox.
The pricing table and fuel-economy figures in the report concern the U.S. market. They should not be read as Canadian-dollar prices or Canadian trim confirmation.
Canadian buyers comparing a gasoline Civic with a hybrid should wait for Honda Canada's model-specific equipment and pricing. A local test drive will also be more useful than the feature name alone when deciding whether the simulated shifts improve everyday driving.
